Bodhi means “Pure Awareness.” It is a reminder that the natural state of every person is clarity and presence; practices like meditation and mindfulness help one reconnect to this innate state.

As a young man, Bodhi was drawn to Thakur Sri Sri Bhajan Brahmachari by the master’s powerful devotional singing (bhajans). That deep attraction led him to seek initiation and become the Gurudev’s disciple.

Bodhi saw a portrait of a Himalayan yogi in his Guru’s ashram and asked who it was. His Gurudev said, “Baba Lokenath is love and compassion,” which shaped Bodhi’s spiritual path.

In a vision on 15 October 1978, Baba Lokenath told Bodhi to “Write, Spread out” — a direct commission to share the teachings widely, which guided Bodhi’s life work.

After establishing his Guru’s ashram and temple, Bodhi felt called to the Himalayas for sadhana (spiritual practice) and to fulfill the directive to spread the teachings globally.

Bodhi founded the Lokenath Divine Life Mission in May 1985 at Bageshwar near Almora in the Himalayas, establishing Baba Lokenath Dham, the Himalayan ashram dedicated to Baba Lokenath.

The Mission emphasizes Bhakti (devotional singing and chanting), Japa Yoga (repetition of the Divine Name), meditation, mindfulness, and selfless service as practical paths to inner transformation.

Teachings include: breath (prana) as the gateway to inner depth, living without regret, cultivating mindful inner dialogue, using meditation to burn old samskaras, and keeping faith in the Guru and Divine Name.

Since 1990 Bodhi has lectured globally — including at the World Parliament of Religions and United Nations events — and developed programs like SAMS (Simple Art of Managing Stress) and Course in Mindfulness presented worldwide.

Beginners are encouraged to start with simple daily practices: short meditation, mindful breathing (prana awareness), chanting or japa, and small acts of service — gradually building a consistent practice.
