God Who Walked The Earth

God Who Walked The Earth

Of all species of life, it is only in the minds of humans that the question arises “Who am I ? ” This is the prelude to a unique journey that humans accept at some point in time in life, to explore and experience the reality beyond all that appears on the peripheral physical manifestations. This journey is the ultimate journey of human manifestation. Only humans can accept this challenge of walking a path that is beyond the mind, to the world of complete transcendence, to the world beyond duality and multiplicity.

Baba Lokenath, who saw none other than his own self manifesting in all of existence, said, “When I realized my Self, I felt a deep urge to heal those who are suffering in this world”. This is the natural state of a compassionate Master. Whoever came to him never returned empty-handed. It was as if all the great attributes that people read in the scriptures and mythologies manifested in him. In one word, Baba, like a living SHIVA, was God walking the earth, shepherding people to their self-realization!!

Baba Lokenath, an Embodiment of Love: As an Embodiment of Love, Baba Lokenath promises us, “Whenever you are in danger, whether in war, forest, ocean or jungle, remember Me. I shall save you. You may not know me. You may not realize who I am. Just pray to me with a little touch of your heart and I shall free you from gripping sorrows and miseries.” With his grace, he reaches out to us with intense love and compassion, to heal our ills and deficiencies, however hopeless we may feel about them. Baba Lokenath, an Embodiment of Compassion & humility: Baba Lokenath has said, “I can do whatever I like. It is only your lack of trust and lack of belief that keeps your desires unfulfilled. For those who surrender to me with love and devotion, if they are in trouble, My heart melts. This is My compassion…and with it, My power flows out to them, freeing them from miseries and unhappiness.” After 80 years of intense austerities, when he became enlightened, Baba discovered that his Guru, having led Lokenath to the exalted state, had not yet attained liberation. Lokenath wept with compassion, for His Master. Understanding Lokenath’s tears, Guru Bhagwan smiled tenderly and announced that he would shed his old body soon and then return quickly to Lokenath as a disciple seeking enlightenment & that he lead him to it. Lokenath, weeping with joy, prostrated at his master’s feet & agreed with overwhelming gratitude. This uniquely tender reversal of guru disciple roles is an exquisite and touching revelation of mutual, mirrored humility. It serves to remind us of the true selflessness of all genuine spiritual attainment, as well as of the endless, delicate and unpredictable beauty of divine unfolding. Baba Lokenath, an Embodiment of Divinity in life & death : Baba Lokenath attained a state of Divinity, which is beyond human comprehension. While most yogis focus on a particular yogic path of Jnana (the path of discriminating knowledge), Karma (the path of Selfless action), Bhakti (the Path of Devotional surrender to the Divine), or Ashtanga (Patanjali’s) Yoga, Baba diligently practiced the principles of all four. He attained total divinity in human form, which his name, Lokenath (Master of the Worlds) denotes. Today, Baba is no longer in his physical body. Yet he still works silently in the hearts of all his devotees.  Baba said, “ I am the Changeless, Immutable One who is never lost nor finished. Where and whenever anybody needs My help, I shall be available forever after.”
