Bodhi means 'Pure Awareness'. Bodhi refers to the natural state of awareness that resides within every person. The name is intended to remind seekers that awakening is an inner return — a reconnection to the clarity and compassion already present within.
Thakur Sri Sri
Bhajan Brahmachari
Relationship between Baba Lokenath, Bodhi Shuddhaanandaa and Thakur Sri Sri Bhajan Brahmachari
Sri Sri Bhajan Brahmachari (lovingly called Thakur), Bodhi Shuddhaanandaa’s Gurudev, initiated Bodhi into the path of Lokenath Bhakti from early childhood and received the infinite grace of Baba Lokenath during his sadhana. Baba Lokenath often appeared to Bhajan Baba in a physical form and guided him on the highest path of Yoga.
After Sri Sri Bhajan Baba initiated Bodhi, he sent him to the Himalayas for sadhana and — in a vivid divine vision — ordered Bodhi to "Spread Out". That instruction became the compass of Bodhi’s life and mission.
In that vision on 15 October 1978, Baba Lokenath lifted his hand and told Bodhi to spread the teachings and the work entrusted to him by his Gurudev. Bodhi then returned from the Himalayas to share those teachings widely, establishing the Lokenath Divine Life Mission and travelling globally to serve seekers and the underprivileged.
Sri Sri Bhajan Baba thus became the bridge who brought the message of Baba Lokenath to Bodhi and, through Bodhi, to the world. Bodhi’s life since has been dedicated to service, compassionate outreach, and the preservation of devotional practice.

Bodhi on Gurudev
Bodhi Shuddhaanandaa talks about his own Pujya (His Holiness) Gurudev.
I was only 16 when I had my first experience with my Gurudev Bhajan Baba, whom we all call Thakur. I had seen many sadhus during my visits to my grandmother in Varanasi, but I never saw such divinity and light in any person as I saw in Thakur. The assembled devotees joined him in Kirtan as he sang Hari Bol; the whole premises shimmered with divine vibration.
His eyes met mine for a few seconds and I felt a deep attraction as if I had known him for ages. Something changed inside me — a deep inner call to belong to that presence and follow.
I slowly came close, whispered a request for initiation, and was told to finish my education first. Later I returned, gave my life to the path, and followed my Gurudev into deep sadhana. His simplicity, humility, and extraordinary energy drew people from all walks of life and inspired my life of service and practice.
The company of the Master (satsang) purifies the heart — his words are not borrowed knowledge but the lived wisdom of someone who has known the Divine. This is why the devotees gather, forget worldly pain, and immerse in divine ecstasy.
